This is a new, unopened, electric train set including engine, cars, track and power pack. Homas the Tank Engine with speed-activated sound and moving eyes. His analog sound system includes whistle, puffs, and steam exhaust upon stopping.

This is an HO Scale set which is the most popular scale in use because it is small enough to fit in available spaces but large and sturdy enough for normal people and kids to handle. The engine and cars are about 4-inch long and 1-1/2-inch wide.. The track is about 1-inch wide. The box says ages 8+, but I think kids at the young end of that range would need a good amount of help.

This does plug into the wall but the exposed voltage on the track is reduced to a safer 12-16 VDC by the power pack. The advantage of HO scale is that you can have interesting layouts in moderate sized spaces. The basic loop of track that is included in this set forms a 36-inch diameter circle. Additional track is readily available for purchas.
